Matt Tavares visits Kids Ink on Monday, September 23rd from 4:30-5:30pm, following a marathon of school visits for his latest book - Dasher: How a Brave Little Doe Changed Christmas Forever

Dasher may be one of Santa's reindeer today, but she didn't start out with him. Dasher grew up in a travelling circus - her days were crowded, noisy, and hot. What Dasher wanted more than anything was to escape and head north, in snow and safety. Between here and history, Dasher's big turning point has never been told... until now.

Tavares has written and illustrated for decades, producing such works as Red and Lulu (a candidate for this year's Young Hoosier Book Award) and a number of sport biographies including Becoming Babe Ruth and There Goes Ted Williams. Tavares also illustrates for other authors like Doreen Rappaport (Lady Liberty: A Biography) and Matthew Smith (Lighter Than Air).
