Kate DiCamillo – the author of such classics as The Tales of Despereaux and Because of Winn-Dixie – stops by the Central Library (40 E. St. Clair St., Clowes Auditorium, Indianapolis, IN 46204) on Sunday, November 18th, beginning at 2pm. Kate’s touring the nation for her eighth novel, the first one that’s also a direct sequel: the world and characters from Raymie Nightingale returns in her latest book, Louisiana’s Way Home. Kids Ink has been working with the Indianapolis Public Library to put this event together, and will be on site to sell Kate’s books.

Raymie Nightingale brought its characters to life and left readers with a lot of questions, particularly questions around Louisiana Elefante. By the end she’d developed wonderful bonds and a few skills that, while not typically seen as polite, proved quite useful. Now, Louisiana’s grandmother wakes her from bed in the dead of night with half a brilliant idea, but before she knows what’s happened, the Elefantes are miles away. Louisiana’s Way Home features the character’s own voice as she figures out who she is, and who she wants to be.

While fans often ask Dicamillo to write more about their favorite characters, she has never been compelled to revisit the world of a previous novel – until now. Lucky readers that attend one of the stops on Kate’s tour will get to hear explain for herself why she couldn’t shake Louisiana’s strong and insistent voice and why she was compelled to tell her story.

This event is free and open to the public. If you’d like to know more about the author, her website is www.katedicamillo.com. For more about this event, visit the Central Library’s calendar page: www.kidsinkbooks.com/event/kate-dicamillo-central-library
