Linda Sue Park Signing at Kids Ink Wednesday, March 2nd, 3:30pm

The child of Korean immigrants, Linda Sue Park was born in the MidWest, lived all over the United Kingdom, and returned to the USA with two kids before she ever thought about writing children’s literature. Now, with over a dozen publications and two major awards, readers the world over couldn’t imagine her doing anything else. Linda Sue Park – children’s author, poet, former college gymnast – will be signing at Kids Ink Bookstore March 2nd from 3:30 to 4:30pm.

Park’s writing career started when she was nine years old with a haiku in a children’s magazine. In 1997, she wrote her first children’s book, See-Saw Girl, which was published two years later. She’s written many books in different formats for a number of publishers since then, including A Single Shard, which won the Newbery in 2002.

Park’s latest work is the intermediate novel Forest of Wonders (Wing & Claw, Book 1), which follows a young apothecary named Raffa. Though still learning, Raffa’s proximity to the forest gives him a wide range of leaves and roots to examine and cultivate his talents with. A wounded bat crashes into Raffa’s life, and the apothecary-in-training stumbles upon a rare red vine that he believes will save the bat. Instead of merely restoring the bat to health, the magic transforms it into something the world hasn’t seen before. Together, they quest into the nearby city of Gilden where they hope to gain some answers.

Linda Sue Park will be visiting local schools before stopping at Kids Ink for this event. Linda will sign on a first-come-first-served basis, so please arrive early to guarantee yourself a chance to meet this wonderful author.
